This past weekend my husband and I decided to visit a few wineries/vineyards in North Texas where we live. With everything going on around the world and the trips I had planned from March-September being canceled, we decided we would do a little near home exploring. One night I decided to look for vineyards near us. I discovered that there’s a whole wine trail all within an hour from our house. I woke him up (I was too excited) and told him that we had to visit at least one. The next day I showed him a few and decided we would visit two that weekend.
Fortunata Winery
The first winery we visited was Fortunata Winery in Aubrey, Texas. This winery is about 50 mins from Dallas & an hour from Fort Worth. We decided to visit Fortunata first because it was only 20 minutes from our house. So Friday night after he got home we drove out to Fortunata for a wine tasting. We each tried 4 different wines I had 2 whites, a rose, and a red. Ultimately we decided to buy a bottle of their Peach flavored white wine to enjoy outside. We also bought their Cabarnet Franc for home!
The grounds of the winery were beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the wine and pizza were delicious. I ordered their Margherita pizza while my husband ordered their Diavola. There was a great atmosphere all around with a few tables being taken up. People practiced social distancing while still enjoying a nice wine and some food.
Fortunata does have a few Villas where guests can stay. I think it would be a great option for guests coming from out of town. They also have a small vineyard which was nice to walk in after dinner. I really look forward to visiting Fortunata Winery in the near future, it is definitely a place we will frequent.
4R Ranch Vineyards|Winery
That Saturday we decided to visit our second Winery of the weekend 4R Ranch in Muenster, TX. This winery was a little over an hour from our house heading towards Oklahoma. We had to make reservations, due to COVID they currently have limited seating as well as a few restrictions. Unfortunately, their winery tours are not currently offered, but their tastings are!
We got to enjoy 4 different wines, I had 2 whites, a Rose, and a Red. They had beautiful views all around. We enjoyed a nice assortment of cheese, wine, and some live music. While we were there we noticed a couple enjoying some frozen wine. Apparently part of their menu includes their winearitas which were so refreshing with this hot Texas weather. I look forward to visiting again and hopefully get to tour their vineyards.
