I absolutely love to travel, however as a teacher it’s not possible for me to just pack up my bags and travel the world with no budget in mind. I always use the tricks bellow and is what I recommend to friends and family when they ask me about how I travel.
These are the apps/services I use to find cheap flights and vacations.
Expedia
- I love booking through Expedia, I’ve booked everything from my honeymoon to a weekend getaway. They have great deals for packages to Europe as well as various hotel chains.
- I recommend downloading the app on your phone. You earn double the points for booking through the app, which you can later use to book other packages. This March I am headed to London & Amsterdam with my husband & parents. I was able to use $170 worth of points to make my booking even cheaper than it already was! Plus booking it as a package through them, I was able to save over $1,500 vs booking individually.
– Another plus not related to flights, but if you book what they consider a “VIP hotel” your points double! Meaning instead of saving $60 towards your booking you can save $120
Hopper
- I use Hopper to keep up with flight trends. Insert where you want to go and any filters you might need such as nonstop flight. Then begin to track the flights. They will notify you when the price decreases or increases as well as tell you if they recommend buying now or waiting.
- If you are flexible on when you can book I would use Hopper.
Fly.com
- I used this to find a flight when I studied abroad in Spain. The great thing about fly is that it will find flights from other airlines that won’t show up on Expedia such as Southwest.
- It’s great for when you want to see lots of options at once.
Cheap DFW
- Now I’ve never booked through them because I like to plan ahead. But if you are spontaneous I would follow them on Facebook and Instagram they post daily deals on flights and remove them once they expire. A few friends have found great deals using them.
I hope you have found these suggestions useful. I would love to hear about any travel plans you have in the comments below. If you are curious where I’m headed this year click here
